Hello and welcome to DiviLegends.com!

This is a site created around Divi 5, a new version of hugely popular Divi theme by Elegant Themes.

Since the name might be misleading, I’d like to make a disclaimer and state some facts about DiviLegends.com website.

It’s a private project

DiviLegends.com is a private project, created by me (Darko R). It is in no way connected to Elegant Themes and not run by them. It has no connection whatsoever to Elegant Themes and any text or comment posted on this site should be viewed in that context.

It’s simply a project that Divi 5 development ignited, because I’m a long time Divi user and I like it a lot. The future that Divi 5 shows is very promising to me, because like many other developers I’ve seen some of Divi’s problems in later years. Some people even turned away from Divi because of them and switched to some other page builders, but I haven’t. I can be stubborn sometimes, and this definitely is the case.

Not only I like Divi a lot, I’ve also invested my share into many Divi Add-Ons and 3rd party solutions that help me create certain types of websites. So, it’s only natural to stick with Divi, at least as long as the benefits of using it are greater than the problems that I have to solve.

I hate cameras

Yes, I do. If you wanted to see a video presentation of any of the things I’m writing about, I’m sorry. I have a severe case of “cameraphobia”, and am avoiding it at all cost. I am aware that it’s the best way to show certain things though, and will do my best to adapt to that as soon as possible.

It’s a learning site

When Divi 5 Alpha was published, I wanted to test it asap.

So I’ve created a subdomain on one of my sites, installed it and started playing.

But it was not good enough for me, because it was somewhat limited to the sub-domain environment, which naturally depended on the main domain environment settings. I wanted to test it out there, as a stand-alone playground.

So, here it is.

Unfortunately, I’m limited when it comes to the time needed to play with Divi 5 thouroughly. So I’m following Elegant Themes, reading about the new things coming out with Divi 5, and when I can, I go and get myself a little try on the new features.

I’m also following some groups on social media about Divi in general. They are a fantastic source of tricks and tips, by the way, and have helped me many times so far.

You can simply think about DiviLegends.com as any normal personal blog.

It will change regularly

I’ve started with a simple default layout, but as I’m getting into Divi 5 more and more, it will change. Whatever I learn I will try to implement and showcase to anyone interested.

It will hardly ever be complete and finished

I don’t expect it to be finished, and I surely don’t expect it to be complete or flawless.

Like I’ve said, it’s a learning site, where I try to implement new features as they become available. I’m quite behind with these, by the way, because Nick Roach and his team are faster than me. 🙂

The editor

The editor used for creating posts (this one included) is WordPress’ own Gutenberg. Although I’m not particularly fond of it, I’m using it and getting myself acustomed to its pecularities. The design itself is done by Divi’s Theme Editor, using the templates, the way it should be.

Several pages will be created directly in Divi though, because this is the only way to show certain possibilites. This is also true for any new functionalities I will showcase.

What really interests me

One of the things Divi 5 is supposed to bring are much faster loading times, as the old shortcodes are being evicted. Because of this, I’m experimenting on DiviLegends.com with the cashing plugin (Litespeed) off sometimes, and you’ll see the tag about that on the front page. So If it says “Caching Off”, you’re looking at a pure Divi 5 website. This way, it will be much easier to test the actual speed of Divi 5.

Second, I’m an older guy, and I’ve been into web development for many years now. And we’ve come a long way from text editors and pure HTML code with some basic CSS, believe you me. Just recently I’ve learned that CSS supports variables, for instance (yes, shame on me….), which was a pain for me for so many years that I’ve tried to overcome with preprocessors like SCSS. Divi 5 is making great use of these principles with its core funtionalities, and I want to learn that. I honestly do.

My goals and plans with DiviLegends.com

Besides me testing Divi 5 and making my observations available to anyone, I plan to create a full showcase section of Divi 5 designs later on. That shold be something everyone can use, either to get ideas or simply to see what’s going on in Divi’s world. My intention is to open it to anyone who created a site (or more) with Divi 5, under certain conditions, of course.

The other section I will devote to tricks and tips about using Divi and Divi 5 in particular. These will include snippets of code (CSS, Javascipt, php) I develop or test, and should serve anyone to find a possible solution to a specific problem.

Affiliate Disclaimer

Yes, I own a Divi lifetime license, along with some additional extensions. I’ve also invested in some 3rd party Divi solutions and memberships, such as Divi Pixel, DiviLife, Divi Engine and others, as well as regular WordPress tools such as UpdraftPlus, RankMathSEO and others.

I also have affiliate accounts registered with almost all of these vendors. As I’m planning to write about them while testing them in Divi 5 environment, you should be aware of this.

You as a visitor should know that many links on this website are affiliate links and will take you to the vendor’s website carying my cookies or reference. Should you decide to buy anything from them, I might receive a certain commission for that.

It’s a normal way of operating online nowadays, and I’m sure you know that.

Thank you, I hope you find some many useful things on DiviLegends.com!
